Margherita Sani is one of the best connected museum professionals in Europe with a bridge to the American continent. She is active member of ICOM (International Council of Museums), ICTOP (International Council for the Training of Personnel) and a member of the international jury of the Children Museum Award. The most recent project she coordinated is a network project called LEM, The Learning Museum, which now features 85 members from 25 European countries, the USA and Argentina. As LEM coordinator, she has recently been invited to join the Museum Ed-AMECO network, which gathers museum education organisations and museum networks in Canada and North America.
Following a degree in Literature and Philosophy at the University of Bologna, Italy, she obtained an MA in Museums and Galleries Administration at the City University of London. After her top education 20 years she worked at the Istituto Beni Culturali of the Region Emilia-Romagna (Italy).
She is actively involved in several European museum networks, among which:
- European Museum Forum, with which she organized the EMF Workshop, an international training event in the museological field since 1996
- EMAC (European Museum Advisors Conference) which she contribute to set up as an informal network in the early 1990’s;
- European Museum Academy, where she is a member of the experts network;
- NEMO, the Network of European Museum Organisations, where she is one of the executive board members since 2008 representing NEMO in Europe and in Brazil.
